HON 255: TRON Legacy Final Project

Image
Olivia, Naomi, and myself decided to do our final project on TRON: Legacy, an action, adventure, sci-fi movie released in 2010. It features Oliva Wilde, Jeff bridges, Garrett Henlund etc. It portrays the story a young man named Sam, whose father (Kevin Flynn) was a famous video game designer and creator of a a massive cyber world referred to as "The Grid" and went missing 20 years prior. Throughout the movie Sam discovers and enters his fathers cyber world and goes on a quest to find his father in an advanced high-tech virtual reality world.  I enjoyed this movie. It was very much so a gotta-get-home adventure film. It reminded me of the movie we watched Ready Player One, in terms of the technologically advanced virtual reality world that the players enter. Although I've never seen the original 1982 TRON movie, I know when that movie was released it was almost revolutionary, there wasn't many movies like it that incorporated a digital world with so many special effect

HON 255- Interstellar Time Travel Video

Time Travel Video Script   Hello we are here from the future!   We came to warn you about the future of the human race if u continue making the same  mistakes.    In the year 2088 the human race has been forced to take shelter on a space shuttle orbiting the galaxies. After Earth exploded in 2050,  humans evacuated and are still wandering in search of a new planet with Earth’s atmosphere and resources.   The space shuttle we currently inhabit is made of carbon nanotube. It protects us from the harmful radiation within space. Within the shuttle different sectors consist of around 600 nanopods. While the provisions brought from earth have been distributed throughout the last 38 years, we are rapidly running out.   Everyday humans wake up on the shuttle and take the daily supplements that provide them with the nutrients they are unable to get from the sustenance they intake from their diet. The children receive schooling in the 12 th  sector while adults continue to run the ship and tes

HON 255- Thought on A.I. Artificial Intelligence

AI was truly an amazing and beautifully crafted movie. It allowed me to feel so many feeling and emotions.  In   A.I. Artificial Intelligence , the ‘boy” David was a robot meant for people like Monica and Henry who were unable to have children and needed the love of a child in their home. David was initially created for this couple to replace their son who was unfortunately in a coma. His programming allowed him to feel love for his “mother” which cannot be undone since David has already imprinted on them while they were grieving their real son. As they soon find out when their son wakes from a coma, and they no longer feel the need to have David. He is then abandoned by his so-called parents; this sends David into a spiral for the rest of the movie. He commits to trying to become a human so he too will be loved and wanted permanently one day.  I felt bad for David, but at the same time, it has been made clear that robots can never really be humans because of the fact that they lack th

HON 255- Thoughts on The Matrix

Overall, The Matrix is not typically a movie I would ever watch on my own, but I am very glad I got the chance to watch it. It is definitely one of those movies that gets you thinking about the future of our world and how and when technological machinery will advance to a point that humans may regret eventually. The Matrix suggested that everyone has the chance and obligation to make a choice between what is more important to them, the real world or the artificial world. Will they allow technology (A.I.) to drive a wedge between them and their human lives? The dystopian future represented in the movie to conquer the human population while they take advantage of the bodies and use them as an energy source was so detailed. It makes me worried with the increase of technological advancements everyday in the real world that soon, our reality may be similar to The Matrix. The special effects were ahead of their time and were outstanding. The story is unsettling and complex yet intriguing, an

HON 255- Thoughts on Ghost in the Shell

-I thought Ghost in the Shell was a very interesting movie. It demonstrated an almost scary version of society that was dominated by futuristic aspects of cyberspace. All of the characters are enhanced through technology and machinery and they have an advantage in that world. I would typically ever really watch anime, but Ghost in the Shell was full of such interesting ideas that have the potential to foreshadow the dark stories that have the potential to come to life in the future. It addresses philosophical question about the identities of humans and what this means for the future when powerful technology/machinery continues to intertwine in our lives. The artwork is able so amazing, detailed, and graphic all with deeper meaning.  - The "Three Laws of Robotics," which Asimov developed among his collection of robot-related short stories titled "I, Robot," are arguably his greatest contribution to the theme. The laws mentioned above include: A robot may not injure a
