HON 255- Thoughts on 2001: A Space Odyssey

 I thought “2001: A Space Odyssey” was truly an intriguing masterpiece and totally futuristic for its time. Although sci-fi films aren’t always my favorite, I found this film to be super interesting because it portrayed ideas and depictions regarding humanity traveling through outer space that have still yet to happen to this day. This may be contrary to popular belief, but I feel like not a lot happened within the 2 and half hour movie. At times it was boring, however, the way it explores technological advancements, innovation, evolution, and the possibilities of the world send a clear message that along with technology comes dangers as we see with HAL. HAL might’ve only been a robot, but he was not to be underestimated. He was murderous yet synthetic, manufactured and most importantly man made. This goes to show, technology keeps advancing because humans have continued to develop it. The movie warns against the power and control technology can have over humanity. I agree that this is something that is crucial for people to be aware of whether its 2001, now in 2022, or in the future technological possibilities can be endless. I think it is cool to get a glimpse of what exploration of space can possibly become one day. Everything from the music to the props and set of the movie and the HAL computer were huge components of the movie and were executed beautifully. The shots, camera angles, and special effects utilized were perfection. The years of hard work and devotion put into this film payed off and created a hit movie worth millions that has continued to be ranked among the best.

I chose to write about   Love, Death, & Robots: Three Robots  in detail. This episode of volume one of the 2022 Emmy nominee sci-fi/horror tv show. Philip Gelatt, the tv show writer, worked alongside John Scalzi who wrote these original stories while Victor Maldonado and Alfredo Torres directed under Blow Studio. This episode portrays three robots entering a post-apocalyptic city for what they consider to be a vacation.   Time Travel Video Script   Hello we are here from the future!   We came to warn you about the future of the human race if u continue making the same  mistakes.    In the year 2088 the human race has been forced to take shelter on a space shuttle orbiting the galaxies. After Earth exploded in 2050,  humans evacuated and are still wandering in search of a new planet with Earth’s atmosphere and resources.   The space shuttle we currently inhabit is made of carbon nanotube. It protects us from the harmful radiation within space. Within the shuttle different sectors consist of around 600 nanopods. While the provisions brought from earth have been distributed throughout the last 38 years, we are rapidly running out.   Everyday humans wake up on the shuttle and take the daily supplements that provide them with the nutrients they are unable to get from the sustenance they intake from their diet.
